1-to-1 Voice Work

This page is for singers — professional or serious — who suspect something specific is going wrong with their voice. Most of the singers I see are working through technique-driven strain, post-illness recovery, persistent muscle tension, or fatigue that's stopped resolving on its own.

If you're newer to singing or looking to develop your voice without a particular vocal health concern, that work is still part of my practice — there's a separate page for it here

How the work goes

Most of what I do falls into two threads: focused coaching to understand and address what's happening with your voice, and vocal massage — hands-on treatment to release the muscular tension that often drives the problem. Most singers benefit from a combination. We'll figure out the right balance in your first session.

I take a limited number of new clients each month. If you'd like to start, the 20-minute consultation is the way in.

Functional voice coaching

For singers dealing with technique-driven strain, persistent muscle tension, post-illness recovery, fatigue across a run or tour, or a voice that's stopped feeling reliable.

Each session begins with an assessment — what's the voice doing today, what's coming up that we need to factor in — followed by tailored technique work and exercises to take away.

How often we work depends on what you need. Some singers come for a single troubleshooting session. Some work with me on an ongoing basis — weekly, fortnightly, or monthly — as a long-term part of how they look after their voice. Others book in for a structured programme of six to eight sessions, particularly when returning from a longer vocal issue or preparing for a major demand on the voice.

In-person at my East London studio, or online via Zoom.

Rates:

30 mins - £55

45 mins - £70

60 mins - £85

45-minute sessions are the most popular for ongoing work. 60-minute sessions are typical for first sessions, deeper diagnostic work, and structured programmes. 30-minute sessions suit quick check-ins for established clients.

Concession rates available for students, conservatoire singers, and Musicians' Union members — please mention when booking.

Vocal massage

Hands-on soft-tissue work on the muscles around the larynx, jaw, and neck — used to release tension patterns that get in the way of healthy voice production. Trained at the Voice Care Centre.

Vocal massage works alongside coaching, not instead of it. Many singers use vocal massage on an ongoing basis as part of how they maintain their voice across a working year.

Sessions take place on a treatment table, fully clothed, with hands-on work focused on the throat, jaw, neck, shoulders, and upper chest.

In-person at the East London studio only.

Rates:

45 mins - £75

60 mins - £95

Concession rates available for conservatoire singers and Musicians' Union members.

What a first session looks like

The starting point is a free 20-minute consultation by phone or Zoom, to understand what's going on with your voice and decide whether I'm the right person to help.

If we go ahead, the first session itself is normally functional voice coaching. We'll spend the first part mapping the territory — the history, anything you've already tried, what your singing life looks like — then move into focused vocal work. You'll leave with a clear sense of what's happening and a small set of practical things to try.

If by the end of the first session I think you'd be better served by another practitioner — a laryngologist, an SLT, a different kind of coach — I'll tell you, and where possible help you find them.
