Meet Owen

Owen grew up in the picturesque county of Suffolk. His musical journey began through classical singing training while at school, where he was an active member of a variety of choral and ensembles including the National Youth Choir of Great Britain. Keen to pursue music further, Owen then ventured to Auckland, New Zealand, where he honed his craft as a choral scholar at the esteemed Holy Trinity Cathedral. Following this formative experience, Owen pursued higher education at the University of York, where his passion for music continued to flourish.

Over four years at York, Owen achieved first a Bachelor of Arts in Music followed by a Master of Arts in Vocal Studies. While studying and performing at university, he developed a deep affinity for contemporary music, especially Musical Theatre, which saw him to take on prominent roles in notable productions including RENT!, Made In Dagenham, Dogfight, and Company. In addition to his theatrical pursuits, Owen held prestigious choral scholarships at St Wilfreds Oratory, Bradford Cathedral, and served as a deputy singer at the renowned York Minster.

In parallel with his academic pursuits, Owen launched his teaching business. Initially catering to fellow university students, his teaching quickly expanded to encompass individuals of all ages and backgrounds when he re-located back to East Anglia. Through his university studies, Owen conducted specialised research in vocal health and rehabilitation, allow him to gain an expert-level understanding of these practices.

Owen now shares his expertise through private singing lessons conducted in his home studio in Suffolk, as well as online lessons via Zoom and community and group workshops further afield. Beyond his private coaching, he has lent his knowledge to several educational institutions including Woodbridge School and Planet Music Academy.

In addition to his teaching career, Owen is an accomplished professional performer in his own right, currently a member of the Grammy award-winning vocal group The Swingles. He marked his Off-West End debut as Alan in Early Mornings Productions’ groundbreaking new musical 'Alan Turing - A Musical Biography' at the Kings Head Theatre (Islington) in February 2023, and has since originated the lead role of Danny in Horizontal Productions' electrifying rock & roll production 'The Bastard Sons of Elvis' premiered at The Bridge Theatre (Penge). Owen frequently engages in choral concerts and solo recitals across the East of England, and is available upon request as a performer for weddings, funerals and other functions.

Beyond the realm of music, Owen is an avid climber, gamer, and squash player.
